Firesticks is a memorial for Indigenous service personnel who have sacrificed their lives defending Australia on land and sea, in the past, present and future. The artwork installation in Queens Wharf Reserve along the Parramatta River comprises of 6 horizontal and 2 vertical Corten steel canoes referencing the shape of a .50 Caliber bullet. The horizontal canoes each have a sculptured stainless steel arrangement of firesticks in the centre of the centre with red LED uplighting illuminates the artwork in the evening. The vertical canoes are paired with a traditional aboriginal fishing spear with a rope embellishment on the top of the post.
